program Notes: "Go where I send thee"

Welcome to the warmth of this beautiful sanctuary, two nights before the winter solstice. Every year I eagerly anticipate the solstice because it marks the shortest day of the year -- or more importantly, the beginning of the lengthening  of the days. It always fills me with hope that no matter how dark the day may be, it is just a phase that will pass and there is light ahead. I feel the same way every time I witness the sunrise -- there is a renewed sense that all will be better.

Whether or not you are a religious person, and whether you are invigorated or totally stressed by the holiday season, there is one thing that is undeniable: the genesis of the season's celebration with the voices of people from throughout the world, not just the western music we are most familiar with. The message is universal -- and it is the mission of Choral Chameleon to connect you to it through music.
